The museum deals with historical handicraft techniques and everyday village culture from 1850 to 1950. The collection is housed in the former train station and a new building (remise). In the depot, simulated workshops with equipment and machines give an insight into the working world of blacksmiths, wheelwrights, cooper, schnapps distillers, tailors and milliners. Other areas show the processing of flax and wool, spinning and weaving as well as basket weaving and a book printing shop. The permanent exhibition in the Alter Bahnhof focuses on the shoemaker's trade and the pottery trade. As a relatively modern craft, the photography department stands in contrast to the shoemaker's and pottery's crafts. The OHI department with the once very important and formative basalt quarry is housed on the upper floor of the old station. All of the departments mentioned in the old train station were equipped with media stations. In the near future, a department will be created on the left side of the first floor, reminiscent of the Kayser and Seibert nursery. There is also the Fekete Gallery on the upper floor of the Old Train Station with works by Esteban Fekete. The annual temporary exhibitions also show works by artists who are related to Fekete.
