Hochheimer Kunstsammlung / Villa Burgeff
65239 Hochheim am Main
In 1999, the city of Hochheim am Main received the collection of modern and contemporary art of the Wiesbaden couple Liane and Hermann Rosteck as a permanent loan, and since the beginning of 2019 it has become the property of the city of Hochheim as a donation. The Hochheim art collection, with a total of around 600 exhibits, documents the most important trends of the 20th century in seven exhibition rooms. The collector couple knew many of the artists personally, and so each work can tell a little story. Highlights of the private collection are works by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Antoni Tàpies, Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Marc Chagall and Wolf Vostell. The "Hochheim Art Collection" has been housed in the basement of the Burgeff Villa in Mainzer Strasse 35 since 2002. The villa is a residential building with service buildings and a garden built, for the owners of the Burgeff champagne cellars, bequeathed to the town of Hochheim am Main in 2000 by their last heiress.
