Information

Lorcher Hilchenhaus is a jewellery box and a special sight in Lorch: after its reconstruction, the most important Renaissance building in the Middle Rhine Valley now shines in its old splendor once more. The original family house of the Lorch noble family von Hilchen was built around 1500 and was demolished in 1890. Reichsfeldmarschall Johann Hilchen had the new house built shortly before his death between 1546 and 1548. His only daughter Maria inherited Hilchenhaus and the family lived there for generations. Then came years of neglect and decline. Between 2009 and 2014, Hilchenhaus was renovated and modernized in terms of monument preservation. The knight's hall in the historic Hilchenhaus is available for civil weddings, conferences, family celebrations and other events.
