Hindemith Kabinett Kuhhirtenturm
60594 Frankfurt am Main
Using original exhibits such as Hindemith's viola d'amore, a private photo album, and his model railway, along with reproductions of historical documents and detailed explanations (in German and English), the permanent exhibition in the Kuhhirtenturm paints a detailed picture of the life and work of the composer Paul Hindemith, who lived in the medieval building between 1923 and 1938. The temporary exhibition "Musical Life in Frankfurt 1918-1933" on the third floor of the Hindemith Cabinet in the Kuhhirtenturm highlights the diverse musical life in Frankfurt am Main during the Weimar Republic.
An audio guide (in German and English), available via mobile phone, provides further information and guides visitors through all the exhibition rooms with numerous musical examples.
In the attic room, into which Hindemith once had a grand piano hoisted, the Hindemith Institute Frankfurt regularly organizes chamber concerts through which the musical work of this important artist of the 20th century runs like a common thread.
