Information

Rodenbacher Geschichtsverein e.V. has been running the local history museum in the district of Niederrodenbach since 1984. The ornate half-timbered house was built in 1717 by Doll, the mayor at the time. It later served as the head forester's office, as a school building and finally as a residential house. In 1983/1984 it was thoroughly renovated and refurbished. On the first and second floor permanent exhibitions were set up, educating about the long gone rural everyday life in this ancient village. Here, visitors can marvel at farming, handicraft and domestic tools, ornaments and clothes as well as an old school desk. Even a complete kitchen from the time around the First World War, with exhibits such as a waffle iron, wheighing at least 2 kg and at least 200 years old is on show. Furthermore, visitors will find a prehistoric and early historic section with exhibits also from the Latené period (robe pin, jewelry ring, bell cup, etc.) and parts of a Roman water pipe.
