Heimatmuseum Gambach
35516 Münzenberg-Gambach
Since the end of May 2004, the 2nd floor of the Gambach town hall has housed the local history museum or Heimatstube of the town of Münzenberg. Documentations cover several jubilees: 1,200 years since the first mention of Gambach, 300 years of the protestant church in Gambach and 50 years of the catholic church in Gambach. Contemporary documents and exhibits are presented in several wall, table, and column display cases. The main attraction of the local history museum is the so-called "Bell Beaker Man", whose final resting place was found during the latest excavation campaign in July 2003 in the new development area Brückfeld IV. The skeleton of the approximately 4,500 year old warrior was professionally reburied by an anthropologist. It now rests in a showcase made especially for it, representing an original citizen of Gambach.
