Burggarten Friedberg
Burggarten Friedberg
April–Oct: daily 9 am–8 pm, Nov.–Mar.: Tue–Sun 9 am–4:30 pm
Just steps away from the bustling Kaiserstraße, the Friedberg Castle Garden offers a retreat steeped in romance and history. As part of Friedberg Castle – one of the largest castle complexes in Germany – the grounds feel like a "city within a city." What makes it special is that the castle has been continuously inhabited and used since its founding around 1170/80 by Frederick I Barbarossa.
Historical heritage revived
The comprehensive redesign (2007–2010) closely follows the historical plans of the 19th century. Both Baroque origins from the 18th century and classic elements of a landscape garden were preserved. Visitors stroll beneath a newly planted avenue of linden trees and follow a sophisticated network of paths that, at different levels, continually reveal new vistas of the surrounding landscape. Particularly striking is the bridge at the former burgrave's residence, which spans the moat and offers a sweeping view into the distance.

Living History
Today, the castle grounds, besides monuments such as the Adolfsturm tower, the castle itself, and the castle church, also house everyday life: residential buildings, offices, and a high school make the historically significant complex an integral part of modern Friedberg.
