Theatre & Museum in the Büchner City of Riedstadt It has been a long journey: in 1995, the Förderverein Büchnerhaus e.V. established the BüchnerHaus museum with great voluntary commitment and the support of the town of Riedstadt. The permanent exhibition "From Goddelau to the World Stage" presents the life of the poet, republican and scientist. In 2009, the BüchnerBühne association was founded in Riedstadt and, starting in 2011, built a professional theatre in the Leeheim district - as an interactive podium for public life: a socio-cultural centre dedicated to the life and work of its namesake. Today, the museum and stage are a vibrant part of the city's social life and a cooperation partner in many cultural initiatives in the region. Many thousands of people have visited the Büchner city in the footsteps of its great son - hardly anyone without taking away at least one new, special, previously unknown aspect of the life and work of Georg Büchner and his family. Guest performances by the theatre have carried his name and knowledge of his birthplace to France, Poland, Berlin and Thuringia. In July 2021, the two associations finally merged to form a joint cultural institution: "BüchnerFindetStatt e. V."
