Information

basis e.V. – Production and Exhibition Platform
Since 2006, basis e.V. has been promoting and presenting international contemporary art in Frankfurt am Main.
By utilising vacant properties throughout the city, the association implements a three-tiered support model designed to initiate diverse creative processes within the city’s community at a local level, foster artistic discourse, and connect Frankfurt with creative production spaces internationally.

Exhibitions
The exhibition programme curated by basis e. V. showcases current trends in international contemporary art through themed group shows and comprehensive solo exhibitions. Readings, lectures, concerts and performances complement the programme. Admission is free.

Studio Programme
basis e. V. currently offers a total of 120 subsidised workspaces for around 150 creative professionals at five central locations. The funding period is six years. All users of the basis studios have access to a project space of approximately 100 square metres on a weekly basis to present current projects and the results of their work. In addition, basis offers the Hessian Studio Programme (HAP) – a funding model comprising various programmes for artists working in Hesse.

Exchange programmes
As part of the exchange programmes, emerging international artists and curators are awarded work grants lasting several months in Frankfurt and in emerging art centres around the world. This enables them to gain new perspectives on their own practice and to build an international network. In addition, basis e.V. supports artists from crisis and conflict regions through various residency programmes.
