When the Friedberg Volksbühne started in November 1958 with the comedy "Die Preußen kommen" (The Prussians are coming), it was the association's concern "to offer the members the best theatre in Friedberg as well". Popular theatres are a relic of the workers' movement. The "little people" should also be able to enjoy sophisticated culture. Nothing has changed in 60 years. Instead of having to travel to Frankfurt or Gießen, audiences experience excellent performances in Friedberg as well.
