What we want

We want to bring more diversity, inclusion, colour and exchange into the cultural life of the people in the west of Frankfurt. The Theater in der Engelsburg aims to close the artistic gap in the city of Frankfurt that has existed since the closure of the FRT, between municipal theatres and small private and popular theatres.

The future is colourful.

We want to bring a diverse repertoire to the stage in Haus Sindlingen, a beautiful historical setting with space for around 470 people:
From classical plays and exciting crime thrillers to musical theatre productions such as chanson evenings or musicals. We also include queer productions that open up new perspectives in our programme. We also offer special events such as international guest performances, stand-up comedy, poetry slams, political talks and concerts. The programme for children and young people is particularly important to us. In future, our stage will also be transformed into an exciting theatre for children and young people. And during the holidays, there are great acting workshops for young people to discover.
Engelsburg is becoming inclusive: we will offer special performances for the hearing and visually impaired and provide barrier-free access to the theatre. All this and much more.

Goals for the 1st year.

We want to enter the Frankfurt cultural landscape with our first productions this year (2025) and achieve a high level of reach and visibility. This gives us a chance to convince politicians to support us financially in 2026. At the moment, we are solely dependent on foundations, donations and sponsorship. That should change. Because only with a large municipal subsidy can we develop our extensive cultural programme in the long term.

Added value for the region and society:

The theatre in the Engelsburg is a great opportunity for the west of Frankfurt and the entire city. It promotes the creative development of children and young people, ensures that the Sindlingen location attracts attention beyond the region, increases the attractiveness of living and working in the region, enables the cultural monument to be recognised and used in a meaningful way in the long term, offers a new attraction for tourism, expands access to cultural participation in Frankfurt and creates new jobs.
