Seligenstädter Klosterkonzerte
The Seligenstadt monastery concerts are a registered trademark of the registered association Kulturring. The beginning of the series is dated June 20, 1970, with a concert by a project ensemble in the summer refectory of the former abbey. The name comes from the former Benedictine monastery in Seligenstadt, which was closed in 1803. The former monastery church, today's parish church, the Einhard basilica, has excellent acoustics. The associated cloister and the terrace in the convent garden in the area of responsibility of the State Palaces and Gardens of Hesse are highly valued venues, as is the winter refectory in the museum, as well as other performance venues in the city. Two summer concerts in the Hofgut in Alzenau-Hörstein am Spessarthang in Bavaria are popular, where the Seligenstadt monks had grown their wine from the year 1000 until the monastery was closed in 1803. Over the decades, the Seligenstadt monastery concerts have developed into a high-quality, diverse range of classical music with a "fixed status in the cultural life of Hesse". (Patron Prime Minister Boris Rhein). A unique selling point since 1998 is the summer Small String Festival. The renowned Munich Henschel Quartet invites a colleague ensemble as artistic hosts, with whom three evenings will be organized together. At the large organ of the Einhard basilica, the European elite of organists handed in their business cards, as u.v.a. Marie Claire Alain and Jean Guillou. Thanks to the cooperation with the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra Bad Brückenau, the monastery concerts were attended by high-ranking soloists.
