EXQUISITE STONE ARTEFACTS
Housed in the only preserved gate of the Büdingen fortress, the Sandrosen Museum is dedicated to a geological treasure:
sand roses are a freak of nature. These beautiful crystal formations consist of barite crystals and grains of sand.
Rare artefacts from the geology of the Wetterau region are also on display: Permian fossilised wood, so-called figurine stones, tertiary quartzites, coloured sands from the Wetterau and one or two other treasures.
Outside the Sandrosenmuseum, a geological sculpture gallery has been created along the old town car park that is well worth seeing.
