Robert-Struppmann-Museum Lorch
65391 Lorch
The main focus of the Lorcher Art and Local History Museum is the art collection of Pastor Anton Karl Pfaff (1872-1926), a native of Lorch who bequeathed his collection to his hometown in 1925. The museum building contains mainly sacred medieval sculptures from around 1400, in the center is the head of John the Baptist (middle of the 14th century poplar wood). In the center of the upper floor is the Lorcher Grape Madonna (Mother of God Enthroned with Child and Grape, around 1350). The approximately 30 sculptures are complemented by a large number of sacred devices. A choral book (around 1600) testifies to the choral tradition of the Lorch parish. Archaeological finds from the area around Lorch are shown in showcases. The oldest exhibits are a neck ring and a children's bracelet from the Bronze Age. Roman pottery finds, medieval utensils and drinking vessels from the Baroque era are also on display.
