Nizza
Nizza
Mon−Sun 8am−8pm
It is the most biodiverse southern-style park in Germany: Frankfurt's "Nizza." Since around 1860, this narrow strip of riverbank has transformed the Main River into an exotic oasis. What once began under city gardener Sebastian Rinz and had to be painstakingly overwintered in orangeries during the colonial era is today a modern subtropical garden with around 200 species of trees and shrubs from five continents.
Thanks to its sheltered southern location directly on the river, the garden enjoys an exceptionally mild microclimate. This allows palms, hardy bananas, and silvery-green sclerophyllous plants to thrive outdoors year-round. Whether in spring with the first blossoms or in winter with the fragrant winter flowers, the Nizza offers a botanical escape in every season. In the various themed areas, such as the fruit or shade garden, historical tradition and modern plant diversity merge to create a unique Frankfurt landmark.
