Since 2002, the Nibelungen Festival has taken place annually in summer as an open-air theatre event in front of the cathedral. The festival reaches a large audience every year and brings a lot of attention to the city on the Rhine. But it is not only the performances in front of the cathedral that make the festival a unique cultural event: the high-quality supporting programme and the Heylshofpark, which is one of Germany's most beautiful theatre foyers, also attract numerous visitors every time.
