Where trade fair visitors once parked, the green heart of the Rebstock district now beats. The New Rebstock Park is no ordinary city park, but a built manifesto by the New York star architect Peter Eisenman. Based on the mathematical "chaos theory," radical "folds" form the central design element.
This avant-garde concept runs like a distorted grid through the entire topography – from the facade design of the residential buildings to the precise lines of nature. The park's hallmark is the 400-meter-long grass canal, a strictly geometric axis of gabions and bridges. Between dense woodlands and open meadows, colorful bands of North American prairie perennials create vibrant accents against the striking backdrop of the Messeturm.
