Nerotal-Anlagen
open daily
The Nerotal Gardens are far more than just a historic park – they are the green gateway to the Taunus Mountains and a guarantee of fresh air for Wiesbaden's city center. Created at the end of the 19th century from an agricultural meadow valley, the park now presents itself as a masterful English landscape garden. The design goal at the time was visionary: an idealized natural setting as a contrast to the magnificent villas on the valley slope.
Along the babbling Schwarzbach brook, you stroll beneath an impressive array of trees on winding paths that were once laid out as promenades for spa guests. Picturesque bridges and monuments line the way, which leads you directly to the valley station of the historic Nerobergbahn funicular railway. Whether as a starting point for a hike in the city forest, for relaxation on the expansive meadows, or for a visit to the idyllic forest playground – the Nerotal uniquely combines urban history and nature.
