With its holdings of around 195,000 media units, of which the oldest date back to the 15th century, the National Meteorological Library is the largest specialist library for meteorology in Germany and one of the largest and oldest in Europe. Its extraordinary historical collection of over 3,000 volumes dating from the period 1483 to 1800 impressively document the development of meteorology as an independent science.
