The Historical Museum Bensheim was opened at the instigation of the Museum Association in 1909 and can look back on more than 100 years of existence. Over this long period of time, the four focal points of museum work unfolded: collect, preserve, research and exhibit. While the permanent exhibition on three floors with 630 square meters of exhibition space shows important evidence of the city and regional history, a large part of exhibits is kept in the collections. Various special exhibitions provide insights into specific historical topics. An extensive museum education program with workshops and guided tours offers experiences with all senses.
