Museum Heppenheim
Amtsgasse 5
64646 Heppenheim
The Heppenheim Museum was opened in its current form in 1995 in the historical building complex of the Kurmainzer Amtshof. The former administrative seat of the Electoral Archbishops of Mainz is one of the oldest buildings in Heppenheim's old town. Here you will also find the Kurfürstensaal with its Gothic frescoes of angels and wall paintings from the Renaissance as well as the adjoining Coat of Arms Hall. The permanent exhibition guides visitors through the history of the city from the early traces of settlement to its founding more than 1250 years ago to the present day. Based on original testimonials and different media, the exhibition shows the changes in the working and everyday life of the Heppenheim population and links them to the general historical change. In addition to the permanent exhibition, changing special exhibitions complement the museum offer. Works by regional and national artists from the fields of painting, graphics and photography are presented, as well as exciting topics with a focus on urban and cultural history.
