Shades of black and gray against bright red and orange show the darkness of war, violence and fire, but also stand for love, passion and lust for life in the 17th century. In this way, visitors to the Grimmelshausen World are immersed in the time of the great Baroque poet with numerous, precious first editions. In the adventurous Simplicissimus Teutsch, Grimmelshausen gives an impressive insight into the life and suffering of the people during the Thirty Years' War. The imperial colors of royal blue and crimson in combination with gold tones dominate the medieval period. The city's founder Frederick I Barbarossa represents the Middle Ages, illustrated by famous people from the city's history. War colors and the colors of fire illustrate the Thirty Years' War: a time of doom for Gelnhausen. Shades of green and blue stand for the scientifically oriented modern era. In addition to Philipp Reis, inventor of the telephone, other Gelnhausen personalities are presented.
