Meßmerpark
open daily
Villa Meßmer, built between 1902 and 1904 by Frankfurt tea entrepreneur Otto Meßmer, is one of Alzenau's architectural gems. Today, the former vicarage houses a restaurant and is surrounded by a landscaped park covering around one hectare. This park, designed by Philipp Siesmayer, lay dormant for a long time before being carefully revived by the town of Alzenau in 2013/14.
Targeted clearing work has freed up historic lines of sight that once again show off the villa to its best advantage. The centrepiece of the complex is the circular fountain basin in the lower part of the park. Framed by natural stone dry stone walls and the steep slope, this is an atmospheric place for meetings and events. A circular path leads visitors through the park, past historic orchards, up to the striking observation tower. Thanks to barrier-free access from Brentanostraße, this piece of garden history can be experienced by everyone.
