Information

The Mathematikum in Gießen is the world’s first interactive maths museum. Over 200 exhibits open up a whole new world of maths. Visitors of all ages and backgrounds can get hands-on: they can solve puzzles, build bridges, rack their brains over brain teasers, discover the Golden Ratio for themselves, watch a ball race and much more. And should they ever find themselves on the verge of despair, the staff are sure to have a tip for them.

The Mini-Mathematikum is a special area for children aged three to eight, designed to help even the youngest visitors grasp the basics of maths.

Since it opened in 2002, the Mathematikum has become a real visitor magnet, attracting around 120,000 visitors from all over the world every year. From school trips and company outings to the ideal spot for a family day out, the Mathematikum – which is open daily – proves just how appealing it is. Its excellent location also plays a part in this: the Mathematikum is just a few minutes’ walk from Giessen’s main railway station.
