Literaturhaus Darmstadt
Since 1995 there has been a Literaturhaus in Darmstadt under municipal sponsorship with domicile in the John-F.-Kennedy-Haus. On the one hand, the Literaturhaus Darmstadt is characterized by a sophisticated program of events, on the other hand, it wants to appeal to people of all generations who are interested in literature and culture. In addition to the classic readings, there are also writing workshops for young writers as well as lectures, exhibitions and concerts.
The literary events in the Literaturhaus are an important part of the city's literature promotion and literature mediation. The areas of music, art, philosophy and photography expand the cultural spectrum of the Literature House.
The events of the Literaturhaus are coordinated by the Literaturhaus office.
The readings organized by Rainer Vollmar in spring and autumn are called the "main program". Vollmar also maintains contact with the company's initiatives and initiates cooperative events that are intended to appeal to a broad audience. The evenings are arranged according to themes dealing with political, social and literary topicality. At the performances in the auditorium, visitors who enjoy reading can purchase books by reading authors and have them signed.
