Information

In 2003, the collection of Waechtersbacher ceramics from Klaus-Dietrich and Marlies Keßler moved into the restored, 200-year-old, "Lohrei-Hof". The Waechtersbacher ceramics factory existed since 1832 in Brachttal-Schlierbach (1834-2011). Worth seeing are the preserved old factory buildings, partly under monument protection. The collection covers the production from its beginnings to the 1950s. The main focus is on ceramics of historicism, art nouveau and art deco. The art department of the ceramics factory has been directed by Christian Neureuther from 1903 to 1921. His contacts with the artists of the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt led to the coveted "Waechtersbach Art Nouveau". Art Deco ceramics and Bauhaus-style production are presented in an agricultural silo converted into a museum room. Another exhibition room, a newly built small half-timbered house, emphasizes the romantic ambience.
