Information

As the most important recreational areas in Offenbach's city center, Lili Park and Büsing Park tell the story of a glorious era of garden culture. Where centuries-old trees now provide shade, the so-called "Main Gardens" were created after 1700 – a chain of magnificent private gardens belonging to wealthy families that shaped the cityscape in the west and along the river.

Today's Lili Park dates back to the estate of the Bernard family, which the banker Friedrich Metzler extensively redesigned starting in 1792. An architectural gem from this period is the Lili Temple, located directly on the Main River. The former luxurious bathhouse has been lovingly restored and now serves as a gallery for contemporary art.

Immediately adjacent lies Büsing Park, the former garden of the d'Orville family. Their impressive residential and manufacturing building was expanded into the magnificent Büsing Palace around 1900. A round temple on an artificial hill, as well as the ornate enclosure along Kaiserstrasse with its historic seating niche, still bear witness to the bourgeois desire for representation.

While the parks were formerly strictly separated private properties, they now merge into a flowing unit via a green space redesigned in 2007 along Berliner Straße – a living testament to Offenbach's urban history.
