Information

In Bad Salzhausen, one of Germany's smallest spa towns, the roles are reversed: the town doesn't have a park, but rather the park lovingly embraces the town. Spanning 52 hectares, it is one of the country's most beautiful and oldest parks – a botanical refuge with over 180 years of history.

The Upper Spa Park, laid out as an English landscape garden as early as 1826, is home to imposing, ancient trees dating back to the town's founding. Around the Park Hall – the cultural heart of the town, hosting concerts and cabaret – nature merges with modern art in the sculpture park.

In the Lower Spa Park, dating from the 1950s, you'll encounter the town's liquid gold. Six healing springs, the historic drinking hall, and the graduation tower invite you to inhale and savor the water. A unique technical monument is the historic waterwheel with its intricate rodwork, a reminder of the salt-making era. Those who hike across the salt marshes enjoy a rare natural spectacle: Here thrive salt-tolerant plants that are otherwise only found on the sea coast.

Whether at the "Park Festival," on the certified therapeutic trails, or at a wedding in the stylish spa pavilion – Bad Salzhausen offers a stage for unforgettable moments amidst unspoiled nature.
