In September 2020, the Board of Managing Directors of DZ BANK AG established the DZ BANK Art Foundation as a non-profit limited company in order to make the collection, which has existed since 1993, accessible to the public on a broader scale. This is done by supporting artists and exhibition venues that are within the scope of the collection's focus. Art-historically significant and socially relevant themes are reflected in three changing exhibitions each year. Works from the collection are also loaned to exhibition centres in Germany and abroad. In dialogue with universities and institutions from the fields of science, research and art, current discourses are incorporated, making the exhibition hall a place of encounter and participation. This has laid the foundations for establishing the art foundation as a permanent fixture in Frankfurt's cultural landscape. The museum space connects the foundation as an independent art institution with other exhibition centres and at the same time makes its charitable character tangible. With over 10,000 works of art by more than 1,100 international artists, which can now be viewed on the Art Foundation's website in the ‘Collection Online’, the DZ BANK collection brings together almost every conceivable artistic genre that has been created in conjunction with contemporary photographic materials. Since its beginnings, a unique collection has developed that is unrivalled in Europe. With its diverse educational programme, the DZ BANK Art Foundation invites visitors to exchange ideas and offers art tours and workshops as well as thought-provoking and special events for all age groups. There are numerous programmes for children and school classes that can be booked by teachers and educators. Our specially designed training courses give teachers and educational specialists an insight into our educational programme. Co-operations with universities and schools provide students and pupils with new impulses through additional extracurricular learning. Workshops for adults, for example as team-building measures, round off our programme. Conferences, lectures and discussion series also enable academic and interdisciplinary reflection. Admission to the exhibition hall and participation in art tours, workshops and training courses are free of charge.
