Information

On the northern edge of the Taunus, above the Weilburg district of Kubach, about 50 - 70 meters below the surface of the earth lies the Kubach crystal cave. At a height of 30 meters, it is the highest accessible cave and the only calcite crystal cave in Germany. Surrounded by 350 million year old limestone, adorned with countless crystals and pearl drop stones, it offers visitors a good insight into the history of the earth. The Kubach cave system was built during the Ice Age and has so far only been exposed to a small extent. Knowledgeable guides explain to visitors everything worth knowing during their 45-minute visit. In addition, a museum  offers, among other things, an introduction to the history of discovery of the crystal cave Kubach. It is also home to a considerable mineral and rock collection. Further larger exhibits from different eras can be found freely accessible in our open-air stone museum.
