Koreanischer Garten
Mon-Sun 6am until nightfall
In the heart of Grüneburgpark, spanning 4,800 square meters, lies an oasis of tranquility: the Korean Garden. Opened in 2005 as a gift from South Korea to the city of Frankfurt, it is designed in the style of a traditional scholar's garden from the Chosun Dynasty. Here, where intellectuals once pondered philosophy, we too can cultivate our minds and bodies amidst nature.
The gardeners pay close attention to natural growth patterns; every tree and flower has a symbolic meaning – pine and bamboo represent long life. The garden guides visitors through the four seasonal zones: from the anticipation of spring, through the shaded summer by the large pond, to the meditative autumn. In winter, the winter pavilion, the "Plum Arbor," invites visitors to enjoy a cozy gathering.
Note: The historic "Morning Dew Pavilion" was destroyed by arson in 2017, but was scheduled to be faithfully reconstructed starting in 2023 to restore this gem to its former glory.
