Alongside the Stuttgart International Animation Festival, the Wiesbaden Animation Festival is the only festival in Germany dedicated exclusively to animated films. It presents the main prize winners from the most important international animation festivals and competitions worldwide. All forms and techniques of animated film are shown – exclusively by invitation. The screenings take place at Biebrich Castle. It presents a selection of the best current animated films from around the world, exhibitions of works, and retrospectives. The festival has a competitive character: the audience votes for the winners in the categories “Best of International Animation”, “Young Animation / New Generations” and “Best of German Animation”. In addition, the Cultural Office of the State Capital of Wiesbaden awards its traditional prize to a filmmaker, studio, or training institution.
