Since 2001, the Heimatmuseum (museum of local history) Großenlüder is housed in the Stiftkapitularische Amtshaus. This building, located in the center of the village, was built in 1690 and is closely linked to the history of its community. In the middle of the 20th century, interested citizens began to collect historical objects and documents under the guidance of Josef Faulstich: the foundation for a museum was put down. Until 1996, its first leaser was Ernst Zentgraf. Under his direction, the collection was moved to the Amtshaus. Since the year 2001, after a fundamental renovation of the building, the most important exhibits are presented on three floors in modern and thematically arranged showcases. The collections and the exhibition are supervised by the museum team.
