Hofbibliothek Aschaffenburg
Hofbibliothek Aschaffenburg
The Hofbibliothek is a modern, publicly accessible academic general library specialising in the humanities and social sciences. It also collects literature on the Bavarian Lower Main region (the city of Aschaffenburg and the districts of Aschaffenburg and Miltenberg) and has valuable old holdings as well as the permanent loans from the Abbey Library (Stiftsbibliothek) and the Hugo Dingler Archive.
Registration and use are free of charge. The library is equipped with WLAN and has 20 individual workstations, three study booths and a group study room. Around 5,000 reference works (dictionaries, encyclopaedias, etc.) are permanently available in the reading room, while almost 18,000 titles are freely accessible in the open access area. The remaining 145,000 volumes in total are held in the closed stacks and can generally be ordered via the online catalogue and then borrowed or consulted (e.g. works older than 100 years). The online catalogue offers many search criteria such as author, title or subject and also access to electronic media (open access titles, e-books, e-journals, databases, etc.).
Titles that are not available anywhere in Aschaffenburg can be obtained via interlibrary loan. The Hofbibliothek thus supports the supply of literature and information to the population for teaching, research and study and for the purpose of personal, school and professional education. The staff will be happy to provide further information.
