Heimatmuseum Staufenberg
Vorstadt 15
35460 Staufenberg
By appointment
The museum shows objects of cultural and historical value. Linen production is clearly shown. Equipment and tools of the village handicraft can be seen. A collection of agricultural implements and machines are reminiscent of rural life in the past. Traditional costumes from the region, household items, historical washing machines and a toy collection enrich the exhibition. Memorabilia from the expellees from Porstendorf, who found a new home in Staufenberg in 1946, are also on display in the museum. A collection of historical photographic equipment, especially from the Leitz company (Leica), enriches the inventory. The Staufenberg local history museum is a good starting point for the literary hiking trail “You should look for the paths yourself! Peter Kurzeck's paths in and around Staufenberg" (https://peter-kurzecks-wege.de/), which leads to locations in the work of the writer Peter Kurzeck and at the same time presents them from the perspective of contemporary witnesses.
