Heimatmuseum Bergen-Enkheim
60388 Frankfurt am Main
Since 1959, the local history museum has been housed in the most beautiful building in the Bergen-Enkheim district: the historic town hall in Marktstraße. The Gothic basement dates back to between 1300 and 1350, the upper floor in the style of the rural Renaissance with the beam structure of the "Wild Man" was built around 1520 and the tower with a Baroque lantern in 1704. Although the components belong to different style periods, the house forms an effective unity. The huge wine cellar, which is more than 750 years old, houses a folklore collection. It includes tools and documents from four important branches of activity: winegrowing on the Berger Hang, cider making, flax processing, and farming, when Bergen-Enkheim was still a farming village.
