Grünring Offenbach
open daily
It's an irony of history: Offenbach owes its most important green corridor to traffic planning. Where a southern bypass for cars was planned in 1960, a 17-kilometer-long, continuous walking and cycling path now winds its way through the city, integrated into the Rhine-Main Regional Park.
Right in the heart of the city, those seeking recreation can experience nature in a completely new way. The Green Ring strings together parks, green spaces, viewpoints, and charming natural areas like pearls on a necklace. The route can be started at Isenburg Castle between the city center and the Main River, and from there, the loop around Offenbach can be followed.
Highlights along the way include the popular Main riverbank with the "Culture Trail" (a project of the Offenbach University of Art and Design), the idyllic Lilipark, the historic Dreieichpark, and the innovative weather park on Buchhügel.
In this outstanding regional park station, the fascination of weather is brought to life with elaborate installations across 20,000 square meters.
The route then loops back to the Main River via the forest park and the Kuhmühlgraben nature reserve – a route that demonstrates how a transportation vision can become a unique connection between urban life and nature.
