A place to meet: Alzenau Generations Park, created as part of the 2015 Bavarian Garden Show, combines nature, exercise and relaxation across four hectares. Where there used to be allotments, people of all ages now find their favourite spot.
While children test their skills on the giant slide, the exercise trail, Kneipp facility and fitness equipment for seniors offer a wide range of opportunities to promote health. Those who prefer a more sociable atmosphere can meet at the boules courts, the table tennis table or the outdoor chessboard.
Those seeking peace and quiet can stroll through the fragrant rose garden, relax in hammocks or enjoy the gentle sound of the Kahl river on the sandy beaches. The Bible garden and the apothecary garden, which is maintained by the support group, add special touches. The “Garden of All Senses”, which was designed especially for people with dementia, is unique. Thanks to the barrier-free network of paths, all the highlights – including the beer garden and wine pavilion – are easily accessible for everyone. Directly adjacent, the historic Hauckwald forest with its old trees and an impressive aerial view of the city invites visitors to make further discoveries.
