Information

The open-air laboratory Lauresham lies at the core of the newly designed and extended UNESCO World heritage Kloster Lorsch, the monastery in Lorsch. The walk-in 1:1 model spans an area of 4,1 hectare and opened in 2014. It explains the complex topic of the manorial system which is essential to an understanding of the early medieval social structure. Lauresham is an ideal-typical centralised farm of the 8th / 9th century and furthermore a forum for experimental archaeological research to test different manual and agricultural working techniques.
