Fastnachts- und Statt-Museum Herbstein
36358 Herbstein
The Stattmuseum was inaugurated in December 1996 as a museum and cultural meeting place. In May 2008, the public museums 'Fastnachtmuseum' and 'Statt-Museum' were united in one building and at the same time combined with the town wall and vault to form one tour. On display in the Statt-Museum are exhibits on the history of the town of Herbstein, especially the great fire of 1907, as well as the history of the mayors since 1849 and the pharmacy room. Noteworthy are the changing special exhibitions on different topics. The carnival museum features the Bajazz with its jumper procession, which has paraded through town on Shrove Monday for over 300 years. The figures wear the original uniforms. Medals and other awards are also on display. Photographs and a video film of the past carnival campaign provide a vivid picture of the many activities in Herbstein during the carnival season.
