Die Dramatische Bühne
Thorsten Morawietz
We are Die Dramatische Bühne, an independent theater in Frankfurt am Main with a permanent ensemble and ongoing repertoire (approx. 150 performances per year).
Every summer we organize our own open-air festival in Frankfurt's Grüneburgpark, where we present our respective repertoire.
The main focus of our artistic work is on adaptations of classical material, such as "Hamlet", "Cyrano de Bergerac", "Romeo and Juliet" etc., which we present in our own special way with a lot of comedy, tempo, music, singing and artistry. Our permanent venue is the Exzess-Halle in the Leipziger Strasse 91, in addition we perform numerous guest performances, special events and commissioned productions.
The vision of our work is a revival of the crazy, madcap theatrical dream as it has hardly been dreamed since Shakespeare's time: Stories full of silliness and profundity at the same time, rich in costume, scenery and (lazy) theatrical magic, the splendor and paltriness of comedy and smear theater, thrown entirely on text and actors and not on time-bound arbitrariness of interpretation, endearingly old-fashioned, hackneyed and glorious at the same time.
