Die Clown Doktoren
Die Clown Doktoren
As early as 1986, Michael Christensen, co-founder of the New York Big Apple Circus, recognised the healing effect of clown doctoring and sent clown doctors to sick children in hospitals as members of the Clown Care Unit. Inspired by this self-creating idea, one of these clown doctors, Laura Fernandez, also succeeded in establishing clown doctors in Germany. THE CLOWN DOCTORS see themselves as comrades who want to accompany and support "their" little patients in the recovery process. Being torn away from the normality of their everyday life often triggers sadness and fear in children. Through the playful care of the clown doctors, who always plan their rounds in close coordination with the medical nursing staff of the clinic, the hospital stay is relieved of some of its seriousness. With their disguises as funny doctors, Dr. Schnickschnack or Dr. Johannis Kraut, for example, bring a cheerful and light-hearted component into focus with improvisations, puppetry, music and pantomime.
