Die Affirmative
The Affirmative is a professional improvisation theatre ensemble from Mainz with six actors and one musician. We perform regularly in Mainz, Wiesbaden and the Rhine-Main region. Our venues are the KUZ, the unterhaus, the Frankfurter Hof, the Schloss and the Caveau - but we are also always happy to welcome new stages.
We run the largest impro school in Germany with over 120 active students, 11 weekly classes and regular workshops - and all in the middle of Mainz. Time and again we bring international comedy and improv stars to us in Mainz for workshops and shows. We compete for the favour of the audience in German and international impro theatre competitions (Cologne, Würzburg, Hamburg, The Hague). It is not unusual for us to bring the winner's crown back to Mainz in our hand luggage. We give workshops and perform our own improvised formats at improvisation festivals. Last year, for example, in Zurich, Bremen, Brest, Munich, Dublin and Tampere (Finland).
In addition to our full-time work as actors and theatre teachers, we are also committed to Mainz and the region - with benefit performances and free courses for young people and children at the Neustadtzentrum and the Blauer Elefant children's house in Neustadt.
