The German TV Crime Festival was held for the first time in 2005. It was born out of the idea of giving television crime fiction a platform that does justice to its success and relevance to society. Since then, the public festival has attracted over 3,000 crime fiction enthusiasts to the historic Caligari FilmBühne in the heart of Wiesbaden, the capital of Hesse. The festival is also a popular meeting place for the television industry to discuss new projects and developments in the genre.
