Information

The "Deutsche Äppelwoi-Theater" in the centre of Bad Homburg has been located directly in the Kurhaus, Schwedenpfad 1, 61348 Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe since January 2007. The shows are a colourful mixture of gags, profound, nonsense, blackouts, clamour and subtlety with an absolute guarantee of laughter. The special strength of the "Äppelwoi" team is playing with the audience. The audience also has the floor and puts the performers' linguistic improvisation talent to the test with their interjections. The shows are fast-paced and musically sophisticated. With elaborate glittering costumes and upbeat décor, there is plenty for the eye. The "Äppelwoi" theatre has nothing to do with pointing fingers or cabaret tristesse. The two-hour shows are entertaining and captivating with their enormous tempo and brilliant linguistic wit. Audience favourite is "Herbert from the Wetterau", a shrewd Hessian farmer, as well as other quirky characters who bring tears of laughter to the audience's eyes with their refreshing naivety when dealing with everyday situations. Theatre director Michael von Loefen leads the audience through the programme with eloquence and punchlines and shows his versatility again and again. The team's particular strengths are the language games and improvisations based on audience suggestions. But also snappy comedies or selected scenes from "Loriot" are at home in the cosy bistro theatre.
