Among the castles in Hesse, Frankenstein Castle is probably the most legendary – its name is associated with countless myths. It is located on the northern edge of the Odenwald forest and offers visitors an impressive view that attracted romantic day-trippers as early as the mid-19th century. Even today, the castle not only attracts nature lovers and history buffs, but also inspires numerous visitors with its mystical atmosphere. Around Halloween in particular, the ruins are transformed into a stage for eerily beautiful events. The combination of historical significance, fantastic views, and legendary aura makes Frankenstein Castle a particularly popular destination in southern Hesse.
