Information

The name Blickachsen (lines of sight) given to this biennial sculpture exhibition series refers to the lines of sight created by landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné in the mid-19th century in Homburg's spa gardens. The series began in 1997 with an exhibition in the Bad Homburg spa gardens, whose concept – also in a figurative sense – took up the garden architectural lines of sight of the park. Every two years since then, the exhibitions have focused on the interplay between contemporary art and the natural environment of historic landscape gardens. Young up-and-coming talents are represented alongside renowned sculptors. Since its inception, the exhibition format, under the auspices of Galerie Scheffel and, since 2013, under the direction of the Blickachsen Foundation (managing director Christian Scheffel), has been held every two years for around four months (end of May to beginning of October). The main focus of the exhibition takes place in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe. Other cities and locations in the Rhine-Main area also participate.
