Arboretum Main-Taunus
65824 Schwalbach am Taunus
open daily
Between Schwalbach, Eschborn, and Sulzbach, a unique botanical world tour awaits you. Spanning 76 hectares, the Main-Taunus Arboretum unites around 600 tree and shrub species from the northern hemisphere. In 38 lovingly designed "forest communities," you can wander through the flora of Europe and Asia Minor, explore the mountain forests of the Himalayas and China, or discover the wetlands of North America.
The grounds are far more than just a collection of trees: extensively managed wildflower meadows, where Angus cattle graze, and regionally typical orchards shape the landscape. A particular highlight is the "Castaneum," which showcases the fascinating diversity of the sweet chestnut, as well as the avenue of the "Trees of the Year."
While shady forests and sunny hedgerows invite exploration, nature is allowed to grow undisturbed on special succession areas – here, the natural forest of tomorrow is taking shape. Whether you're a knowledge-hungry tree enthusiast or looking for a relaxing stroll: The arboretum offers unique insights into the geology and botany of our world at any time of year.
