Albrecht-Dürer Anlage
open daily
What today appears as a landscape that has evolved over centuries began in 1909 with a remarkable feat of engineering: To create the Albrecht Dürer Park, over 14,000 cubic meters of soil and rubble were moved to raise the terrain to street level. Landscape architect Friedrich Schwartz designed a late-Romantic landscape garden here, modeled on the English style, which was officially opened in 1912.
The entrance at the end of the cherry tree avenue leads visitors along a magnificent promenade to a central circular plaza. From here, beneath shady pergolas, the view opens up to the picturesque pond fed by the Kesselbach stream. The stream itself meanders gently from the verdant Walkmühltal valley through the park. With over 6,000 shrubs and an enormous variety of perennials – from delphiniums to rhododendrons – the park offers a magnificent display of color in every season. Whether relaxing on the spacious lawns by the stream or visiting the playground at the northern end: The Albrecht-Dürer-Anlage remains one of Wiesbaden's most popular oases of peace.
