Überwaldmuseum
69483 Wald-Michelbach
The foyer, which used to house market days and court sessions, shows special exhibitions. In the staircase, a variety of tools and utensils are exhibited in the field of craft. Among them are the tools of carpenters, utensils for domestic slaughter, an almost complete cooper's workshop and historical utensils of a hairdresser. The former council chamber houses an exhibition on the subject of "The forest as a livelihood of the Überwald". Across from it is Germany's largest collection of clothes hangers. In the staircase to the second floor, agricultural objects are exhibited; the hall on the second floor shows a saddlery and a shoemaker's workshop. In a room on the upper floor are tailor's tools, a small schoolroom and a mining department with its mineral collection. The second room on this floor is the so-called "Karrillon Room". It commemorates the physician and local poet Adam Karrillon, the first Büchner Prize winner and honorary citizen of the community Wald-Michelbach.
